HGTV on Roatan

HGTV shows, the back story

Having just finished my 6th show with HGTV thought I would share how the shows work. And, if you are interested, I’ll let you know how you can be a TV star.

We did the first ever Caribbean Living show several years ago and in that episode we met the prospects for the first time on camera. Prior to filming HGTV let me know what they were looking for and we gave the producers six options, knowing they would narrow it down to three for the actual filming.   Buck and Amy, the prospects, did not select one of the three filmed homes but the day after the filming they put in an offer on one of the homes HGTV did not use. Since then they have completely remodeled the house and they are now loving their new life on the island.

The producers would like to have people who are fun, under 55 y/o (but, they will not “card” you) and talkative. They will ask for a short biography, want to know what you are looking for, if you are willing to devote 5 complete days for filming and are willing to do a SKYPE interview.

HGTV will also consider “stars” that have recently purchased on Roatan. In those cases you would pretend that you had not yet purchased and are considering the other homes. This explains why sometimes when we watch the show we wonder why they didn’t purchase house #2 when it was perfect.

You will be the stars of the show. They will film your reactions to the homes and ask you to phrase each comment multiple times so they can cut and edit later. They will take a complete day and film you doing something fun on the island. Other “stars” have gone scuba diving, swam with dolphins, road horses in the surf, played with sloths and zip lined.

If you would like to be considered for the show please drop me an email and I will send you all the contact information. It’s a lot of work, but fun.

Your Post-Election Escape Plan

post-election Your Post-Election Escape Plan

We prefer not to get involved in political discussions but we are showing potential investors properties and are frequently hearing they are concerned with the upcoming election and are thinking of an escape plan.  We are hearing this from both Democrats and Republicans.  Seems like everyone is concerned.

So, here’s your chance to beat the rush.  Roatan is a great option.  Very low prices for homes.  Or, land, which could be purchased today and available for building later when you are ready to actually retire or leave.  Roatan can provide excellent medical care, fantastic weather, friendly locals, a low cost-of-living, direct flights to the US and Canada,  and we are more or less immune from many of the issues concerning so many of our US fellow citizens.

We are not suggesting giving up your US Citizenship, but consider Roatan as a great option for your residence.

BTW, what a great opportunity for our Canadian friends to flee in anticipation of all the US citizens fleeing to Canada.
